Hoodie but a goody.

gapkid

CREATED in Illustrator CS2. I like doing these type of illustrations, but they’re always a bit scary, I always get scared. I usually start with the eye, have no idea why? I think maybe it come from when I doodle, for some reason I inevitably end up drawing an eye! Strange, maybe it’s my subconscious telling me to look after mine.

Once the eye is drawn I carry on with the rest of the face, sometimes jumping to the hair, in this case I think it was the hat. It’s funny, but it’s not until quite late on that I know whether a piece of work is, well, working. Sometimes even then I’m unsure. That’s the scary part, will it work? is it worth carrying on?

The answer of course is yes, you do carry on, how do you really know if you cracked it. I think I did with this one (Well, I like it)

Joss Stone.

ANOTHER one the GAP series, drawn in ball point pen, I like the effect of ball point, but it’s hard to scan, looks more like pencil. Maybe I should use a blue pen?

THIS was done for GAP, we designed a mural for their London headquarters, it was done in illustrator CS2.

(Just to add that I am in no way a fan of Sex and the City… that is all)

JUST testing the water, first post on my brand spanking new blog!

This is one of a series of illustrations done for GAP clothing. Although my blog is called Point Five Pencil, this was actually done with a biro.

The name point five pencil may not be obvious, but it refers to the pencil I use at the start of every illustration, I use Illustrator CS2 do do final artwork for my work, but always a point five pencil at the start.
